Obituary for Mark Wallis

It is with profound sadness that after a two and a half year tenacious battle with melanoma, Mark Wallis passed away the ninth of October. He was surrounded by family, including cousins Frank and Claire from Australia, and friends. He will be missed by the love of his life, Elizabeth and his beloved daughters Mackenzie, Melanie and Allison. Survived by parents Frank and Betty Wallis, brother Alan and wife Nancy, nieces Erica and Sydney. Also by “out--‐laws” Jeanne Nott, Peter and Nancy Nott, Bill and Leslie Hajdu and nephew Geoff. Due to Mark’s career as a pilot with Canadian Airlines, Swissair, Martinair, and Air Canada, combined with his outstanding personality and his love of the spoken word, he leaves behind friends all over the world. Especially in the Netherlands and Switzerland. In Milton he is known for his work at Martin Street Public School (Parent Council, Spring Fling, and saving the school), Milton Girls Baseball, and his impeccable dance moves in the Dance Shop recital. His work schedule often allowed him to attend the girl’s school trips and functions. Mark also maintained the neighborhood rink, perfected the art of Halloween decorating, and spent many hours outside with his girls camping and playing catch. He put all his energy into his family and his many friendships. This loss is immeasurable. Many thanks to the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital 16th Floor and CCC ward of Milton District Hospital. Especially to Dr. Chan at MDH and Dr. Hogg and Dr. Mak at PMH. Donations to PMH, Milton District Hospital and the Melanoma Network of Canada. And please, wear sunscreen.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the McKERSIE-KOCHER FUNERAL HOME 114 Main St. E. Milton 905-878-4452 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Thursday. The funeral service will be held at Grace Anglican Church 317 Main St. E. Milton on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 10:30 am.
