Obituary for Shirley Dunkley

Shirley Dunkley
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Allendale Long-Term Care Facility in Milton in her 90th year. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jerry (Gerald Bruce Dunkley), and her siblings Audrey Lyle, Jack and Terry Anderson. Mother of Diane (Bill Kelly), Stewart (Yvonne Taylor) and Karen (Doug Funnell); grandmother of Leonard, John, Elizabeth, Deborah, Matthew, Joanne and great-grandmother of Andrew, Sarah, Noah, Aria, Levi, Elleigh and Joel. Although both born in Toronto, Shirley and Jerry met in Muskoka while working one summer at the Royal Muskoka Lodge. A beautiful relationship was born, and they were blessed with 62 years of marriage together. Shirley has now gone to join the love of her life, and together they are dancing to the light of the moon. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many wonderful staff and volunteers at Allendale for nearly five years of loving care.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the MCKERSIE-KOCHER FUNERAL HOME, 114 Main St., Milton, 905-878-4452, from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21; or at Grace Anglican Church, 317 Main St., Milton from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Grace Anglican Church, with light refreshments to follow. Interment to follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens in Oakville. Memorial donations in Shirley’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to Grace Anglican Church.
