Condolence: To Sylvia's Family. I work at the Day Program located within Allendale and feel fortunate to have met Sylvia. As I stopped to say hello to former program clients I met this lovely lady who was either visiting with a resident or helping out with various programs/events. I immediately liked Sylvia and always enjoyed a warm greeting and chat with her. On one occasion I learned that Sylvia was familiar with Wood Lake, Muskoka where my family cottage has been since 1961. Sylvia told me she was from the Bracebridge area and that her family once had (still has?) a store on HWY 118. As it turns out Sylvia and I figured the homemade date squares that my dad just had to stop and buy on the way to our cottage were made by Sylvia's mom! It's such a small world indeed and I would like you to know how grateful I am that I crossed paths with Sylvia. She was lovely and I will truly miss her.
You have my heartfelt condolences.

Condolence: To Rod and family, sincere condolences on this most devastating loss. I believe that angels walk among us. And I believe that your beloved Sylvia was an earthbound angel. Sylvia answered an ad I placed, looking for a "companion" for my elderly father, John Rieschi. Luckily for us, she accepted the position and remained with us as my father progressed from relative independence, through invalid status, through palliative care. She became my father's best friend and remained steadfast and unwavering despite the curve balls his failing health threw at us, and at her. Nothing seemed more than she could handle, yet I knew the toll that her caring nature took on her. More than caring for my father, she was always there with a willing ear and an open heart for us as we struggled to adjust to his failing health. She was a deep well of compassion, empathy and strength, and she gave so much of herself to those of us who needed her. I was blessed to have known her, and I am so sorry for this devastating loss to those who have known and loved her. May she rest quietly and at peace, knowing she gave so much solace to those of us whoselives' she touched.
